2020 Ellis Wines Premium Shiraz, Heathcote

The word 'premium' suits this wine. It's a fine example of Heathcote shiraz, from the deepest garnet hues to the multi-layered generosity of flavour. Blackberries rule, aided by dark plum, heady aniseed-led spices, tilled earth and chocolate. Handles the high-ish alcohol well. Overall, intelligent winemaking on display, with well-measured oak in tune with outstanding fruit. JP 14.8% alc.
