2022 Montalto Main Ridge Pinot Noir, Mornington Peninsula
'Pretty' is the word that immediately comes to mind when tasting this. It’s also heady with florals and spice with a wisp of menthol. It’s full of sweet fruit, all cherries and pips strawberries and tangy blood orange, yet this is a subtle wine, lighter framed, even. Tannins are lacy and fine, acidity juicy with a mouth-watering succulence. The 2022s are for drinking now rather than extended cellaring. Given the delight of this, that’s fine by me. JF 13.5% alc.
