MEET MAYA MAYA

Swan District winery Mandoon Estate has renamed its onsite accommodation Maya Maya, signifying ‘camp’. Previously known as ‘The Colony’, the name change was influenced by the winery’s Reconciliation Action Plan. Mandoon engaged artist Samaja Miller – a young Aboriginal woman from the Minang and Kaneang people – to create new branding for the 32-room hotel. The area on which Mandoon resides was a popular camping spot for the Whadjuk Noongar people, who are the traditional owners of the land.
